The showrooms of Milan's Trade Fair seething with chefs and curious onlookers, a new area where guests can taste wines and dishes prepared by the most renowned chefs titled the "Food & Wine Festival", countless stands of Italian food and produce harvesters competing to captivate visitors one sample after the other, savory treats and nectars of the wine god Bacchus: just to picture how the 8th edition of "Identità Golose" (Gourmand Figures), the International Congress of Cuisine on exhibit from February 5-7 looked like.
Culinary delights and a bouquet of the most prestigious Italian wines served as a backdrop to the traditional award ceremony for chefs who have made a mark in the last season in cuisine and patisserie. The Chef of the year is Niko Romito, while Viviana Varese won Gourmand of Milan, and the Glutton's Artisan is Alessandro Gilmozzi from Trento. The award ceremony closed off with a tribute to Aimo and Nadia Moroni, who have succeeded over time in giving life to a true heaven of taste and Italian savors in Via Montecuccoli in Milan.
Like every year, Gourmand Figures has roused the city's palate, also thanks to special events sponsored by the so-called unaffiliated restaurants, a total of 30 this year, 20 top cuisine and 10 expressing Milan's culinary tradition, chosen to ease participants on their way to a great decked table where they could top-off the day, and to entice citizens to pay a visit to the best the city has to offer in terms of restaurants, without feeling intimated or in awe. Experience taste at its best!
