Accessories and over-the-top designs. These are the two key phrases that we’ll remember from this Milan Fashion Week.
And just like we’d guessed: the most entertaining part of Fashion Week is its people.
Like Anna dello Russo, the creative consultant at Vogue Japan and an extreme fashionista, who watches all the catwalks with a curious eye and the most outrageous looks. Did you see her with cherries on her head at the shows last year? Or in the much discussed Fashion Shower video where she introduces her line for H&M?
And that’s only one of the many participants on the catwalks that, each year, come to Milan to see the new collections.
In addition to journalists, bloggers are now making a name for themselves. For Italy, our top fashion blogger is definitely Chiara Ferragni with her site The Blonde Salad, who has been invited to all the coolest events of the week and has been photographed in all her different looks. Naturally, she is guaranteed a front row seat.
It’s really fashionistas that dictate the fashion and this year is focused on maxi accessories. Bracelets and jewelled necklaces that are bold, colourful, fluid and elegant.
Where can you get them? Definitely at JCrew online in America or London. If you’re in Italy, try Angela Caputi in via Madonnina 11 in Milan.
The animal fever continues with leopard prints in different colours. Fashion hats have also exploded along with classic bags and colourful clutches.
Because the rule is to be fashionable this year, you have to mix and match different colours and styles.
