Cortina is filled with flavor

When you hear the words Cortina d’Ampezzo, your mind immediately goes to glitterati parties and sparkling hotels, snow-capped peaks and exclusive dinners. These are the stereotypes that always spring into the collective imagination of both for Italian and foreigners.
But there are those who are working to shed a new light on this town in the Dolomites. Now, in addition to winter ski-trips and the catwalks of August, GUSTOCORTINA will also come to mind. The event, organized by Golden Moon, in collaboration with Hotel de la Poste, held on 29-30 September, will be a window into the wine and culinary world of “Made in Italy” and a bridge between Italy and the new markets in Eastern Europe and Asia. There are events, tastings and conferences on schedule: “De-vine Scenarios” and “Sins of the Throat” are areas that are focused on tastings and sampling from companies located in Hotel de la Poste. In this first year, the event is striving to become an important focal point for workers, wine enthusiasts and operators, both Italian and foreign, in the sector with the goal of promoting and exporting all things Italian, both in terms of products and the land, considering the immense heritage of art, history, culture and the landscape of the Belpaese.
This is the reason that pushed the organizers to include an area called “culinary tourism” for structures that offer trips and tours related to wine and culinary excellence. Innovative offers and interesting experiences for new visitors, wine lovers and culinary gourmands.
You can also attend a brand-spanking new way of conducting wine and culinary shows, the “Open House GALA Tour” initiative. On Saturday, 29 September at 9 pm, select private homes in Cortina will open their doors to the festival, hosting cooking lessons led by the chefs who won GUSTOCORTINA 2012. The food offered by the participating companies will be used to create delicious plates, paired with award-winning wines. This is a special culinary tour in a unique and innovative context to rediscover the charm of real local cooking and the pleasure of healthy, fun company. This all highlights the hospitality of the town, the true trademark of local Dolomites tourism.
At the end of the event, a jury composed of experts will assign the GustoGortina 2012 prizes based on excellence, passion and creativity.
